Connecting Through Art and Solidarity: The Story of Conectadas in Spain

Part of the CIVIC IN Webinar Series

On july 30 we shared the inspiring story of Conectadas – a creative and supportive space in Spain where migrant and local women come together to connect, express themselves through art, and fight loneliness through solidarity.

What began as a small peer group facilitated by Solidaridad Sin Fronteras has now grown into a self-managed initiative, supported—but not led—by the Leganés City Council. It stands as a living example of collaborative governance, where public institutions open space for grassroots communities to grow, take ownership, and lead their own paths forward.

Through real stories and shared experiences, this session explored how trust, shared responsibility, and autonomy can empower women-led groups to build resilient and inclusive community spaces.

A big thank you to Solidaridad Sin Fronteras for sharing their inspiring work.

This session was part of the CIVIC IN webinar series – short, engaging online meetings that highlight how informal groups across Europe create real social impact.
